Bodega Calle Alberti 154 Malbec
WHY WE LOVE IT
- This Malbec comes from the highest quality viticultural areas around Mendoza. Cool nights refresh grapes and help maintain zesty, fresh fruit aromas.
- Warm days impart ripe berry flavors and generous soft tannins. This wine is rich and inviting with 12 months of oak aging.
- This wine also comes in 375ml half bottles and 19.5L kegs to be served on tap.
Varietal Composition: 100% Malbec
Elaboration: Hand harvested, sustainably farmed grapes. Carefully sorted by hand, cluster by cluster. Gravity flow winemaking. Unfined and unfiltered. 30% aged 12 months in French oak. 70% in concrete tanks.
Tasting Notes: Garnet violet color. Aromas of roasted nuts, latte, and dried berries with a supple, dry-yet-fruity medium body and a zesty, chocolate citrus peel, bacon bits, and earth accented finish with fine chewy tannins. Excellent balance and flavor for a wide range of foods.
At the crossroads of four corners and four historic wineries, Luigi Bosca, Baldini, and Lagarde, Bodega Calle is located on their southwest corner. A small-lot, gravity-flow, red wine making studio located in the prized viticultural area of Luján de Cuyo, our winery was opened in 2001 in the restored Claudio Erice winery, originally built in 1925. The winery concentrates on varietal wines and premium red blends sourced from viticultural areas throughout Luján and Valle de Uco. All wines are made with the use of gravity and are never pumped to deliver the grapes to the fermentation tanks.
All grapes are farmed without the use of herbicides or pesticides, are hand picked and sorted and vinified using native yeasts, which results in a more gradual fermentation curve and less intervention with refrigeration. Bodega Calle is a certified organic winery and the wines are GMO free and vegan. Also, the winery recently joined the DOC of Luján de Cuyo, the 5th winery ever to be admitted. Kirk Ermisch is its principal owner and general manager. Christopher Ermisch is the original founder of Bodega Calle, along with Elvira Calle, a famous local businesswoman and philanthropist.
