Molino del Piano Brunello di Montalcino

WHY WE LOVE IT

  • Intense bright red tending to become garnet with aging.
  • The suggested serving temperature is 16-18°C.

Varietal Composition: 100% Sangiovese grosso.

Elaboration: Stainless steel tanks with temperature control. Aging in oak barrels, in barriques and tonneaux and finally in bottle.

Tasting Notes: Intense, clean, characterized by spicy notes reminiscent of berries jam and pleasant shades of vanilla. A buttery scent inebriates the nose. Majestic on the palate, with a round and velvety body. The tannic plot is dense and enveloping, excellent persistence.

PRODUCER BACKGROUND

The site of an ancient grain mill built next to the creek ‘Suga’ in the 16th century caught the eye of Andrea Bonacchi in the 1970s. Now, it is where four generations have grown the Sangiovese grapes that will be transformed into the classic Brunello di Montalcino Molino del Piano, a brand of the Bonacchi group of wineries.

Farming is entirely organic and sustainable, and energy is provided from 100% renewable sources. The Sangiovese fruit is vinified in stainless steel before being transferred to age in oak barrels for four years and then another four in the bottle.
