Cantina di Montalcino

Cantina Di Montalcino

Montalcino, an ancient and fascinating Sienese village of Etruscan origin, is located atop a hill nearly 2,000 feet above sea level among a verdant holm oak forest. Four distinct slopes offer distinct soil characteristics, orientation, and microclimates. This unique region is particularly suited to the cultivation of Sangiovese, an ancient vine from which the famous Brunello wines are produced.

Cantina di Montalcino, founded in 1970, is the only cooperative winery in the Brunello area. Our 94 members are small growers with less than 2 hectares each under cultivation. Together they produce quality grapes for a total of about 76,000 bottles.

Our members’ vineyards are located in all of the four unique quadrants of the area, guaranteeing excellent quality even during periods of less-than-favorable climatic conditions. The care with which they nurture their grapes manifests itself in the highly sought-after wine we offer to the world.
