Chateau des Fines Roches
In the 1930s, Chateau des Fines Roches, a very impressive 19th-century castle complete with turrets, was purchased by Louis Mousset. Upon his death, his daughter, Catherine, inherited the vineyards around the chateau and rights to the brand. The chateau itself is an upmarket hotel, restaurant, and spa.
Today, the daughters of Catherine run the operation. Amélie runs the office and marketing end, while Gaëlle manages the vineyard. Gaëlle’s husbund, Frédéric Maillet, is the winemaker.
The vineyards include 53 hectares of Chateauneuf du Pape, 48 hectares of which are red varieties, the remainder planted for whites. Chateauneuf du Pape is a bold blend for which this region is famous.
The family operation has expanded beyond the original property and one of their vineyards produces grapes from which a different and distinct Chateauneuf du Pape is made.
