Saint Galet Châteauneuf-du-Pape

Domaine Saint Galet Châteauneuf du Pape

WHY WE LOVE IT

  • The grapes for Saint Galet Châteauneuf-du-Pape are grown on the western shores of the Lac du Bourget, between the Rhône and the lake, on the foothills of the Mont du Chat…coming from the best terroirs of the Châteauneuf du Pape appellation.
  • This region is partly covered with 5-million year old rounded pebbles (Galet in French) from the last major ice-age, partly sand-clay soil with a high PH level.
  • The best terroirs in this appellation are in the north-east and…That’s where this wine is from!

Varietal Composition: Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre

Elaboration: The grapes are hand-harvested and pressed. After cold settling, the claried must ferments at a controlled temperature, between 16 and 18°. The wine is then kept in traditional vats until it is bottled.

Tasting Notes: Intense ruby red wine. Packed with dark red or black berries. It shows a firm structure and is full bodied, while bringing the finest expression of Grenache to your palate.

In 1936, the appellation Châteauneuf-du-Pape was created to showcase this much-admired wine of the Southern Rhone region. The Châteauneuf-du-Pape of Domaine Saint-Galet is produced by the world-famous winemaker, Eric Bonnet. Eric is a co-owner with his father of La Bastide Saint Dominique.
