Domaine de Thulon Beaujolais Villages Blanc

Domaine de Thulon Beaujolais-Villages Blanc

  • Engaging small-lot Beaujolais Blanc.
  • The fun you get out of Chardonnay from Beaujolais is way too often overlooked.

Varietal Composition: 100% Chardonnay

Elaboration: Hand-harvested grapes. Whole bunch pressing. Alcoholic fermentation in temperature controlled vats between 54°F and 61°F. Aging on fine lees with regular stirring. Mo malolactic fermentation. Bottles at the estate in the end of March.

Tasting Notes: This fun wine has attractive oatmeal and citrus aromas with a pleasantly round, yet crisp palate. Very typical of high-quality cool-climate Chardonnay, there is a delicious freshness with abundant white fruit flavors, delicate minerality, and great finesse.

This farm is located on the old estate of Château de Thulon (15th century) and was purchased by Annie and René Jambon in 1987 after they were “métayers” for 20 years there.  Their children Carine and Laurent are now running the estate, and a passion for experimentation sets them apart from peers in the region.  These are some of the best values in French wine we’ve come across in the last decade.
