WHY WE LOVE IT

  • Walla Walla Cabernet has been established in the World as its own style and flavor profile. This wine is no different!
  • This Walla Walla Cabernet its fruit forward, has great acid and lots of complex layers.
  • A very dense dark style of Cab that ages extremely well.
  • WA wines drink very well their whole lives so it’s not the end of the world if you can’t resist temptation to pull that cork!

Varietal Composition: 96% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Merlot

Elaboration: The wine was produced in the Walla Walla Valley on Pepperbridge Vineyard, Blue Mountain Vineyard, and Les Collines Vineyard. It was treated in 30% New French oak, Hungarian and American barrels. Aged 18 months prior to releasing.

Tasting Notes: Bold magenta color with a sultry appearance. This wine smells like the spice rub for Prime Rib. Hints of white pepper and geranium. Flavors of cinnamon twists and plum tease the palate. Big and Bold, if you’re not drinking it with red meat, you are doing it wrong!

PRODUCER BACKGROUND

Before he retired as a John Deere dealer in the state of Washington, David Huse came to know many vineyard owners in the Walla Walla Valley. What started as a post-retirement experiment grew into a full-fledged passion for the Huse family. As the Five Star Cellars website proclaims, they use “grapes only from the highest quality vineyards in the Walla Walla Valley.”

David started Five Star Cellars in 2000, and the first vintage consisted of 120 cases of Cabernet Sauvignon. That doubled the following year with Cabernet and Merlot. After a 2002 remodel, Dave’s son Matt took over as winemaker and they released their first vintage, which quickly sold out. They added a Syrah to their growing list of vintages and continue to draw fruit from some of the area’s storied vineyard owners.
