Il Palazzone Rosso de Palazzone

WHY WE LOVE IT

  • The wine is produced with Sangiovese grapes and is an authentic expression of Tuscan terroir.
  • Whenever possible, they declassify a portion of their Brunello to be blended with the Vino Rosso barrels to result in greater complexity.
  • Born of their desire to return to the tradition of “Il vino di tutti i giorni” – a wine for everyday, the Rosso, a very pleasing wine of great drinkability revisits the ideas of the old customs of wine and food of the people in Tuscany and Montalcino.

Varietal Composition: 100% Sangiovese

Elaboration: During the aging process, we declassified them to create the Vino Rosso blend. The component wines have spent 10-24 months in large Slavonian oak barrels on average but varies per lot. Bottle aged a minimum of 2 months. All the component wines have spent over a year in large wood barrels,
resulting in a “baby” Brunello, with all the characteristics of Montalcino and Sangiovese, but with the fruit, freshness and approachability of a Rosso di
Montalcino.

Tasting Notes: This wine is fresh and fruity, yet expresses all of the elegance and energy of Sangiovese.

PRODUCER BACKGROUND

Il Palazzone, a boutique winery minutes from the town of Montalcino, produces Brunello di Montalcino in a traditional style. Owners, Kirsten and Peter Kern who are originally from the U. S., grow grapes in three separate areas allowing for the fullest and most balanced expression of Montalcino’s diverse terroir and microclimates. In addition, the vineyard adjacent to the cantina is a very special, high altitude parcel, a portion of which has been bottled as the cru Le Due Porte since 2015. The estate also produces this Rosso del Palazzone, a versatile 100% Sangiovese non-vintage wine.
