Ruby Vineyard Gamay

Ruby Vineyard Gamay Noir

WHY WE LOVE IT

  • Gamay Noir is made from fruit grown at the Scotch Church Vineyard in the Willamette Valley, 13 miles away from the Ruby Vineyard winery.
  • Our winemaker, Andrew Kirkland, personally selected the site as an ideal place to grow Gamay Nair in the valley and the vines were planted there in 2016.
  • Produced using true carbonic-maceration –  featuring the Jules Chauvet/”Gang of Four” method.

Varietal Composition: 100% Gamay Noir

Elaboration: The wine was fermented long, cold and slow using 100% carbonic fermentation with the juice resting with the skins for 40 days. The wine was then pressed and racked into neutral oak barrels and rested there for 4 months prior to bottling.

PRODUCER BACKGROUND

Ruby Vineyard is a small, vineyard and winery in the Chehalem Mountains of Oregon’s Willamette Valley region. It is owned by the Hendricks family and is located in the Laurelwood District AVA, just west of Portland.

The Hendricks family has deep roots in Oregon. In 1843, Steve Hendricks’ great-great-grandfather, Abijah Hendricks, arrived in Oregon on the first wagon train to brave the Oregon Trail. Abijah’s adventurist spirit lives on in Steve and his wife Flora. Sharing a dream of owning a vineyard and making wine, they have explored every aspect of the winemaking process, from driving a tractor to pouring for guests in the tasting room.
