Thurston Wolfe Petit Sirah

Thurston Wolfe Petit Sirah Zephyr Ridge Vineyard

WHY WE LOVE IT

  • This Petite Sirah is Thurston Wolfe’s 19th release, a rare variety for Washington State.
  • From our Zephyr Ridge Estate Vineyard, harvested from the most southern facing slope. This grape benefits from the strong winds off the Columbia River that compliments the Loomis soils that stress, invigorate and push the Petite Sirah to its limit making a strong single varietal.
  • A wine perfect for cellar aging!

Varietal Composition: 100% Petit Sirah

Elaboration:

Tasting Notes: The Petite Sirah has rich blueberry, chocolate, mineral cedar, tea leaf and pepper. Plenty of fruit yet balanced with acid and a subtle backbone of chewy tannins.

PRODUCER BACKGROUND

Thurston Wolfe is a small family winery owned by Wade Wolfe and Becky Yeaman, specializing in unique red & white table and dessert wines. Grapes are sourced from growers located in the Horse Heaven Hills and Yakima Valley AVA’s at sites best suited to the individual varieties. These sites and grower relationships were developed through Wade’s extensive contacts and knowledge of the region dating back to the late 1970’s.

Thurston Wolfe’s grape sourcing is based on Wade’s 40 years experience working with Washington State’s grape growers and vineyards. As the grape buyer first for Ste. Michelle in the 1980’s and later at Hogue Cellars in the 1990’s, he gained invaluable knowledge about the growing regions as well as the skill of the growers and quality of fruit.
