Tobias Glen “Deux Ankh” Pinot Noir
WHY WE LOVE IT
- Tobias Glen, the estate vineyard, is a 19-acre parcel located in one of the most cherished micro-regions in the Russian River Valley.
- Ideally suited for Pinot Noir, the predominant soil type is Goldridge. Its excellent drainage allows the winery to create a balanced vineyard ecosystem yielding exceptional, high-quality fruit.
- In 2020, Tobias Glen Vineyard was granted the Bee Friendly Farming Certified due to their meticulous attention to detail in pollinator conservation and habitat health.
Varietal Composition: 100% Pinot Noir
Elaboration: Aged 8 months in neutral French oak.
Tasting Notes: Intense and opulent nose, showing black cherry and warm spices. Soft layers of fruit followed by mineral and spices with underlying richness on the palate. Light footed and playful, reminiscent of Pommard with its grip and minerality.
The Tobias Glen Vineyard is a 19-acre estate located in one of the most cherished cool-climate micro-regions of the Russian River Valley AVA in Sonoma County, California. It was saved from being demolished and turned into a housing development when California Wineries & Vineyards (CWV), the parent company of Tobias Glen Vineyard, acquired it in 2015.
Our vineyard farming is conducted by Art Robledo, Jr., and his well-respected family, who have been tending Tobias Glen for more than a decade. Art believes it is important to be a good steward of the land by practicing environmentally friendly techniques and to treat each vine individually. Four acres are farmed, and the rest remains a conservation forest. The vineyard is certified sustainable.
