Unico Zelo Jungle Jungle Dolcetto

Unico Zelo Jungle Jungle Dolcetto

WHY WE LOVE IT

  • Why the name Jungle Jungle? Unico Zelo is a certified B Corporation Winery, one of only 30 in the world. As such, they are able to dedicate 1% of new product revenue to a recognized cause and they have chosen jungle reforestation. Reforestation is the process of replanting trees in areas that have been affected by natural disturbances like wildfires, drought, and insect and disease infestations — and unnatural ones like logging, mining, agricultural clearing, and development.
  • Unico Zelo Jungle Jungle Dolcetto comes from the Clare Valley, Langhorne Creek region of Australia. Grown on shale and blue slate soils, It is made from the Dolcetto variety, a dark-skinned wine grape originally from northwestern Italy.
  • Dolcetto grapes produce soft, fruity wines that one might believe is sweet from the variety’s name, meaning “little sweet one”. When in fact, sweet Dolcetto wines are something of a rarity and Jungle Jungle is no exception.
  • Brendan and Laura Carter, a husband and wife team, craft wines that express Australia’s sites, soils, lifestyle and culture.

Varietal Composition: 100% Dolcetto

Elaboration: Grown in the microcosm of blue slate soil inside Clare Valley – the famed Polish Hill River. The attraction is 20-year-old Dolcetto vines grown in an inland, continental climate – warm days and alarmingly cold night lend great acid retention whilst developing flavor. Harvested and destemmed only – with a short 5-day maceration prior to pressing. Whole berry, wild ferment. The majority of the oak treament is in stainless steel a small parcel in new Slovenian Oak Foudre.

Tasting Notes: This wine is spicy, bright and enlivened. Vegan Friendly, it is the undefeated Champion of Pizza Wine!
