Champagne Charles Orban
Over 250 years of history in Troissy Terroir
Since 1770, the Orban family has been nurturing grapes in the picturesque village of Troissy, France. In 1950, Charles Orban established his own Champagne house after leaving the local cooperative, aiming to craft wines that reflected his vision. In 1996, the Charles Orban estate was purchased by the Rapeneau family, who have worked diligently to preserve its rich history.
Under the guidance of cellar master Christophe Rapeneau, Champagne Charles Orban thrives. The Rapeneau family’s century of expertise enhances the vinification process, honoring the Orban legacy while embracing the future. Today, Jean-François, Christophe’s son, focuses on sales and brand development, ensuring the house’s rich history captivates wine enthusiasts worldwide.
The Charles Orban Estate thrives on the clay-limestone soils of the Marne Valley. Known for its Pinot Meunier, it also grows Chardonnay and Pinot Noir to create complex vintages. With 25 hectares which are certified Haute Valeur Environnementale (High Environmental Value), the estate is committed to expanding its sustainable practices. The temperate climate and varied exposure contribute to the exceptional mineral richness of its wines.
