PRODUCER BACKGROUND

The Orban family started growing grapes in the peaceful village of Troissy, France, in 1770. At the end of the 20th century, the estate was sold to the Rapeneau family, which had been established in Champagne for more than a hundred years. They preserved and perpetuated the Orban family tradition and blended it into their own legacy.

In 1979, Ernest Rapeneau also acquired Champagne producer G.H.Martel & Co., which became the producer of Orban wine. G.H. Martel is one of the largest growers in Champagne with more than 420 acres under cultivation. The House, founded in 1869, is based in both Reims and Épernay in northeastern France. The Rapeneau family has been growing vines for four generations. Cellar master and oenologist Christophe Rapeneau now runs the House while his older son, Jean-François, is responsible for the sales and brand development.
