Moschioni Real Rosso Colli Orientali

Moschioni Real Rosso Colli Orientali

WHY WE LOVE IT

  • Minimal environmental impact. No herbicide or desiccant. Only organic fertilizers.
  • Grapes are hand-harvested.

Varietal Composition: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Tazzelenghe

Elaboration: Moschioni Real Rosso Colli Orientali is harvested by hand. It is aged several months in barriques, then in large oak barrels followed by a period of bottle-ageing.

Tasting Notes: Deep ruby red with purple shades. The aromatic profile is focused on ripe fruit. Strawberry, raspberry and blackberry jam along with floral scents of mountain cyclamen and red rose intermixed with a spicy note of cinnamon. On the palate there is plenty of high but sweet tannin hiding below all the glycerine and fruit. Very pleasant balsamic ending.

PRODUCER BACKGROUND

In 1989, Michael Michioni took over the Michioni Winery and decided to stake everything on the production of red wines, in an area where while wines are almost exclusively produced. He started producing native vines, almost forgotten, such as the Pignolo, the Scoppiettino, Refosco and Tezzelenghe. The vineyards have adopted organic farming and everything has to be grown and farmed as naturally as possible. The wines produced by the winery are stunning, powerful, and elegant.  Today, Michael is assisted by his son, and two daughters who inherited their father’s passion for producing quality wines.
