Vinos & Bodegas Gallegas

Vinos & Bodegas Gallegas Arrumaco Rosé

WHY WE LOVE IT

  • Arrumaco has become a go-to label that has risen to the top in a crowded category of sensational values.
  • Arrumaco Rosé comes from vineyards in Valencia, which are made up of limestone-based soils.
  • These soils offer impressive density and concentration, striking purity of fruit, and true and loud expressions of Spain’s classic varietals.

Varietal Composition: 100% Garnacha

Elaboration: Hand harvested in September and October. Grapes were fully de-stemmed and lightly crushed, then immediately pressed. Fermented at cool temperatures in stainless steel tanks with no malolactic conversion. Racked off the lees and bottled very young.

Tasting Notes: Lighter in color and body than many other Spanish Rosés. Loaded with intense raspberry and plum aromas that follow to a crisp yet silky palate.

PRODUCER BACKGROUND

Arrumaco is the label created by Hand Picked Selections, the North American wine importer, for a Grenache-based Rosé. The Spanish winery that produces Arrumaco is Bodegas Gallegas. It was started more than 50 years ago by Manuel Vázquez, “Manolo Arnoya,” as Arnoia Winery, a small personal project driven by a passion for good wine. Today, although it has grown into a large company, Bodegas Gallegas still reflects its humble character, its “family” essence, and its traditions.

Manolo Arnoya used to say that to make good wine you need three things: work, love, and feeling. In half a century of history, Bodegas Gallegas has not betrayed this philosophy. The humble Arnoya winery was a simple affair. Manolo, himself, traveled in a cart to sell his wine. A delicate balance is required to retain the essence of its founder’s vision while growing to five large bodegas and distributing wine to more than 40 countries.
